1. Start a new tradition<\/strong><\/p>\n

While many families go around the table sharing what they are thankful for, take it one step further by using a white tablecloth and passing out Sharpie markers.\u00a0 All guests write down what they are thankful for that year, sign and date it.\u00a0 Use the same tablecloth each year as a timeline for your family and friends.<\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Ask for help<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don’t do it all yourself!\u00a0 Encourage guests to bring a dish and\/or help with meal prep and cleanup.\u00a0 Most people will be happy to assist, and it’s a great time for informal conversation.<\/p>\n

3. \u00a0Don’t talk politics!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Use the family meal time to reconnect\u00a0with one another’s lives.\u00a0 Talk about sports, school, work – but steer clear of controversial topics,\u00a0especially\u00a0<\/em>politics.\u00a0 You can even make a family pact to agree to disagree ahead of time.<\/p>\n
